Having had many bike mechanics over the years, Alex at Vida Ciclista is the best I have ever seen, and it’s not even close. He is a rare find who is honest, highly skilled, gets the job done quickly, keeps you informed, and takes time to educate you, whether that be about specific issues you’re having with your bike, or options you’d have never known existed for products when you need to replace something. He seriously leaves no stone unturned when working on your bike - he’ll find things I even forgot were giving me problems, which most other shops would not bother looking for. I have a bit of a niche brand of mountain bike (Intense) which most shops don’t know what to do with, and are hesitant to contact the manufacturer for support or parts when needed. He not only contacted them to get the replacement part for a bolt that came off, he sent them pictures which revealed a previous shop had attached these bolts incorrectly. With most shops, I’ll go in with a specific problem or two that are important to fix, or specific maintenance work the manufacturer recommends, and an inexperienced sales person doesn’t understand what I’m asking for, and says their standard tune up will take care of it, doesn’t communicate the details to the mechanic, and you get an overpriced tune up and just about nothing that you actually asked for. Alex is not only the mechanic, he is the owner and the service agent you talk to. He listens and makes sure he understands, and things don’t get lost in handoffs between different employees. He’s also generally available to do work within a few days, whereas a lot of the shops around have a wait time of weeks, and they want to hold your bike all that time, leaving you without something to ride. Alex will schedule you to bring it in when he has time, which makes a lot more sense. He is the best I've ever seen, and I won’t be going anywhere else.

Alex is a gem of a human being. He's warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and exactly what you want in a mechanic. There's no up-sell. There's no pressure. Just an honest opinion and helpful disposition. He brought my old Japanese mamachari back to life for a very reasonable price. When the tires he ordered didn't fit on the rims, he apologized, knocked the price of the tires off the bill, and got me rolling again on my old tires. He does great work. I felt like I got what I paid for. I can ask for nothing more in this world.

Alex Manente is the real deal. Found and met Alex both by word of mouth suggestion from a friend, and by being the local Orbea dealer. Went in and met him and talked things over in order to place an order for a 2 new Orbea Orcas for my wife and I. Unfortunately, we decided to order bikes in August when all of Spain is on vacation (meaning no bikes are being built or shipping out), but Alex was very transparent and kept in contact to let us know the status of our order. In the meantime, while we waited we hired Alex to do some maintenance on our old entry level bikes. His skills turned our old bikes back to brand new, probably even better. His work sets a new bar for craftsmanship that you’ll likely have trouble finding anywhere else. You can stop your search for a shop and/or mechanic… You have found Alex!
